East Kowloon Cultural Centre
A browser-based VR showroom that let performers and partners explore East Kowloon Cultural Centre's theatres and training spaces before the arts complex opened.
East Kowloon Cultural Centre is a major arts complex in Ngau Tau Kok, with five performance halls including a 1,200-seat multi-purpose hall and a 550-seat theatre. The 2.16-hectare site was designed by Rocco Yim with the Architectural Services Department.
Performing groups needed to understand the spaces before construction finished. Static renders could not show how people would move through the building or how the halls connect.
Miracle designed and built a custom VR showroom that runs in an enterprise web browser. Visitors explore the venue in 3D, with clear wayfinding and storytelling, so no headset or special training is needed.
The result is a live virtual showroom that helped performance groups plan ahead, long before the doors opened.
